5、. 從前在這個(gè)村子里有一條河。 once還可表示“一次”。一天一次:once a day. 對(duì)其提問用How often. 3. advise him to take a course in DIY. 建議他學(xué)習(xí)自己動(dòng)手做方面的課程 建議某人(不要)做某事 advise sb (not ) to do sth. She advised her husband not to smoke ,but he wouldn’t. 她建議她丈夫戒煙,但他不聽。 4. be crazy about DIY. 對(duì)自己動(dòng)手做著迷。

6、 be crazy about 意為“對(duì)……著迷;非常喜歡……” (1)他瘋了,因此應(yīng)該把他關(guān)起來。 He is crazy, so he should be locked up . (2)那些女孩子對(duì)位歌手很癡迷。 The girls are crazy about the singer. (3)杰克對(duì)玩電腦游戲很著迷。 Jack is crazy about playing computer games . 5. put in a brighter light 安裝一個(gè)更亮的燈 put in 意為“安裝”。 舉起,張貼,掛上 put up 推遲,拖

7、延put off 收拾,整理 put away 穿上put on We put in a new air-conditioner when we moved here. 我們搬到這兒的時(shí)候安裝了一臺(tái)新空調(diào)。 6. “犯錯(cuò)誤make a mistake / make mistakes .錯(cuò)誤地 by mistake . 誤把A當(dāng)作B mistake A for B 7. fill the room with water 把房間里裝滿水 fill…with…“用某物填充”。be filled with 是 fill …with…的被動(dòng)形式,意為“被…裝滿’,主語為物。 [混辨

8、析]be full of 與be filled with 的區(qū)別。二者意思都為“用某物填充”,有時(shí)可以互換,但是:be full of 強(qiáng)調(diào)“充滿的”這一狀態(tài),而be filled with 通常強(qiáng)調(diào)動(dòng)作。 The bottle is full of wine . 瓶子里裝滿了酒。 Her eyes are filled with tears. 她的眼睛里含著淚水。 8. not only …but also…意為“不僅 而且;和 都.” 可以連接并列的主語,賓語或表語. 當(dāng)連接并列的主語時(shí),謂語動(dòng)詞的形式由but also后的主語來決定。 Not only your pare

9、nts but also I am proud of you. 不僅你的父母為你驕傲,我也為你驕傲。 My mother is not only a good teacher but also a good cook . 媽媽不僅是個(gè)好老師而且是好廚師。 He can speak not only English but also Japanese. 他不僅會(huì)說英語而且還會(huì)說日語。 9. attend lessons 上課。attend動(dòng)詞,意為“經(jīng)常去,出席”,常指參加會(huì)議,集會(huì),典禮,婚禮,追悼會(huì)等,有時(shí)也指上學(xué),聽課,聽報(bào)告等。它強(qiáng)調(diào)額是動(dòng)作,即聽或看,為正式書面用語。 joi

10、n 意為“參加,加入(團(tuán)體,黨派,組織等),并成為其中一員,也可指加入一群人做事。如:加入我們 join us . tale part in 意為“參加,加入”,表示參加某項(xiàng)工作,事業(yè),活動(dòng)等。 參加學(xué)校運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)take part in the school sports meeting 我需要參加明天的會(huì)議嗎?.Need I attend the meeting tomorrow? 10.keep on painting. 繼續(xù)刷。 繼續(xù)做某事 keep on doing sth. keep on doing sth和 keep doing sth 都表示繼續(xù)做某事。keep do

11、ing 是指持續(xù)不斷的一直保持這個(gè)狀態(tài),而 keep on doing sth表示中途停下來過,然后再去繼續(xù)做它。 他畢業(yè)后繼續(xù)學(xué)英語。He keeps on learning English after graduation. 他一直在跑。He keeps running. 11. have a power cut 斷電 12. make him angry 使他生氣 13. no problem 沒問題 14. on the shelf在架子上 15. paint the wall blue把墻刷成藍(lán)色 Activity 3 Exercises 一、 單項(xiàng)選
