3、 6 compare advantages and disadvantages of different jobs; 7 describe the qualities that different jobs need; 8 listen for facts about a job; 9 get some skills of persuading people by using positive arguments; 10 analyze their own qualities and know what types of jobs are suited to them; 11 ex
4、press their thoughts in a diary according to the sequence of an event; 12 give others advice and suggestions on how to choose suitable careers. Culture & morals 13 understand the meaning “All of them together, though, help society function” and have a right attitude to different types of jobs: w
5、hen you choose a job, you are supposed to know that there are no humble or noble jobs in our society. 14 evaluate themselves objectively and improve themselves constantly. Overview Module 11, Unit 1 is about jobs and careers. Each component of the unit is closely related and developed coherentl
6、y and successively. As we know, a source of confusion in our classroom is related to the selection and sequencing of tasks within a lesson or unit of work. It is therefore important to sequence tasks so that prior tasks provide a “platform” for ones to come, so that succeeding tasks “depend” on t
7、hose that have come before. We can define this as “task dependency.” (David Nunan) According to his theory, we set our tasks as follows: We will deal with Reading in two periods. Our task is to show students how to express in the target language things they’ve already known in their first languag
8、e. With the teacher’s guidance, the students will know some information about different types of jobs, their advantages and disadvantages, and be able to find the author’s opinions with the clue of link words and his tone of writing. In addition, they can talk about their own thoughts on jobs by fol
9、lowing the sample language. It is time to enlarge the students’ vocabulary and help them build new schemata in Word power. In our real life, the categories of professions are far more complicated than those in the reading text. Thus, we can help the students to know more about the categories and
10、 qualities that are needed in these jobs. This will provide a platform for the coming tasks. Simile and metaphor are not tested separately in the College Entrance Examination, while we think it is of great help to improve students’ reading and writing ability, especially for top students. So it i
11、s necessary for them to know about them. By this means some of the students can try to use this figure of speech to make their writing and speaking more vivid and persuasive. At the stage of Task and Project, we will push the students to the creative use of the language. In these two parts, the
12、students will perform their competence of speaking and writing after the acquisition of the topic and the relevant words, expressions, structures and information. In order to make learning more meaningful and real, the teacher in Project will assign some real tasks for the students to complete,

18、ng aid multi-media Teaching procedures In general The Reading text is a magazine article about the popularity of different types of jobs. It introduces popular careers, more unusual jobs and everyday jobs. Students are expected to consider all aspects of a job, which might be helpful in choos
19、ing their own future careers. The Reading strategy in this unit suggests that students should pay attention to the language used in a text as well as the author’s opinion. Students are expected to improve their reading skills by participating in the activities designed. Firstly, Ss watch a music
20、video and then answer several questions so that they can be introduced to the topic of the text quickly and pleasantly. Secondly, Ss read the text and answer four questions. The reason for choosing four questions is that Ss can adjust to the new demands of the 2010 NMET in advance. Thirdly, S
21、s are expected to learn more about the types of jobs by completing a diagram. Fourthly, Ss find out from the text some sentences reflecting the opinions of the author, thus paying attention to what kind of language is used to discuss different things. Fifthly, Ss complete a short summary about
22、 Yang Min’s thoughts on different jobs, knowing a student’s opinion about jobs. Finally, Ss express their own opinions about jobs, which are based on their full understanding of the text. 23、a music video and then answer three questions: 1) What other job am I suited in? 2) Would you like to be a teacher in the future? 3) How many students have an intention to be a teacher in the future? (After Ss answer the questions, the teacher shows one or two slides and says something to introd
24、uce several new words and expressions like glamorous, option and in reality.) 1 Brainstorm the words expressing different jobs, some of which are shown to Ss in the form of pictures. (The teacher says something and show a slide to present the new word reflection.) Step 2 Reading (26 minutes)
25、 1 With the following four questions in mind, Ss read the text. After that, they are expected to answer them. (12 minutes) 1) What is the passage mainly about? (no more than 11 words) 2) What are the three types of jobs the author talks about? (no more than 10 words) 3) What types of jobs

31、rtant to society, while others can appear very exciting but are actually very difficult and boring. 2) One example is the so-called ‘glamorous job’ of being a model or an actor. 3) It does not seem that glamorous now, does it? 4) All these people love their jobs, which might not be popu
32、lar, but are interesting regardless. (The underlined word will be explained as anyway in English.) 5) These jobs may not seem very attractive, but they are all important. 2 Ss decide the author’s opinions according to the sentences above. The author’s opinion: She is biased in favor of
33、ordinary careers and dislikes some popular careers. ( The underlined word will be explained in Chinese.) Ss complete Yang Min’s summary about her thoughts on different jobs and point out Yang Min’s opinion about jobs. Step 4 Discussion (7 minutes) 1 Ss are divided into groups of four to
