交換生又稱學(xué)校間學(xué)生交流計(jì)劃?!皣H學(xué)生交流計(jì)劃”起始于第二次世界大戰(zhàn)之后,主要目的是加強(qiáng)全球不同國家之間的交流,增進(jìn)國家間的了解、文化溝通和學(xué)術(shù)交流,促進(jìn)各國之間的友好往來。目前每年世界各地有60多個(gè)國家和地區(qū)的學(xué)生參加交換項(xiàng)目,相互交換學(xué)生。美國國務(wù)院于1995年正式批準(zhǔn)中國加入“國際學(xué)生交流計(jì)劃”,其內(nèi)容是每年從中國招收優(yōu)秀學(xué)生到美國高中就讀。
