Introduce some key points of main and subordinate clauses: I. 主句和從句的區(qū)分 主句是相對于從句而言的。某一個分句可以直接從屬于另一個分句,作為一個句子成分;也可以從屬于一個詞組,作為詞組的一個部分。帶有分句作為自己成分的分句便是主句,充當(dāng)主句成分的分句便是從句。 e.g. She loves the dog that once saved her life. (該句中that once saved her life有主語和謂語動詞,但是不能單獨成立,須要依附于主句she loves the dog, 因此that once saved her life 是從句,而she loves the dog 是主句。) II. 從屬連詞 從屬連詞的大致可分為三大類: i. that(無詞義,不充當(dāng)句子成分);if, whether (表達(dá)是否的意義,但不充當(dāng)句子成分) ii. 連接代詞:who, whom, whose, what, which, whatever, whoever, whichever(有詞義,在句中可充當(dāng)主語,表語,賓語) iii. 連接副詞:when, where, why, how, how many, how long, how far, however, whenever, wherever(有詞義,充當(dāng)從句的狀語) III. 從句的語序 英語用從句經(jīng)常用疑問詞(wh-word)引導(dǎo),如who, what等,但與疑問詞引導(dǎo)的簡單句不同,從句不使用疑問句語序,而使用陳述句語序。 e.g. Why did the old man cry? Nobody knew why the old man cried. Underline the main clause in each sentence.
