Analysis of the teaching materials 教材分析 本單元以“節(jié)日”為中心話題,介紹古今中外節(jié)日的種類、由來、意義以及人們的活動和習(xí)俗,旨在通過本單元的學(xué)習(xí)使學(xué)生不斷了解我國的節(jié)日,而且對外國的節(jié)日也有所了解,進(jìn)而拓展社會文化背景、增加跨國文化知識。 本節(jié)課所選內(nèi)容是Using language中Reading and writing部分,閱讀內(nèi)容主要講述了一對現(xiàn)代年輕人發(fā)生在情人節(jié)的一個傷心的愛情故事。其中穿插了對中國古代著名的“牛郎與織女”及其由此演變過來的“乞巧節(jié)”的介紹。兩個不同年代的故事由愛情這條主線巧妙地連接起來,使人讀起來意趣盎然,也為下一步創(chuàng)作性寫作任務(wù)奠定了良好的語言與心理基礎(chǔ)。Writing部分讓學(xué)生續(xù)寫文章的結(jié)尾。旨在讓學(xué)生通過思考寫出自己的想法,嘗試解決問題的不同途徑。 2.Analysis of the students學(xué)情分析 This class is given to Senior One students who have mastered a certain number of English words and phrases as well as acquired some useful reading strategies such as skimming for main idea and scanning for specific information. However , they still have difficulty in dealing with some problems concerned with inferring and writing. 二. Teaching objectives 教學(xué)目標(biāo) 1.Knowledge objectives (1).The students will be able to learn some new vocabulary in the passage: apologize/drown/sadness/obvious/wipe/weave/weep/forgive/turn up/keep one’s word/hold one’s breath/set off/remind…of. (2).The students will be able to read and understand the story A Sad Love Story. 2.Ability objectives (1). The students will be able to improve their reading abilities and skills like scanning, skimming and writing abilities. (2). The students will be able to guess the meanings of the new words and phrases. 3.Emotional objectives (1)The students’ sense of cross-cultural communication will be greatly aroused. (2)The students’ sense of cooperation will be developed and they will be able to experience the pleasure of cooperation and success. 三.Teaching important points and difficult points 教學(xué)重點(diǎn)與難點(diǎn) 1.Teaching important points 教學(xué)重點(diǎn) (1)How to improve the students’ reading abilities and skills (2)How to help the students understand different festivals about a love story and how to write a different ending for the story. 2.Teaching difficult points 教學(xué)難點(diǎn) (1)How to help the students to write the ending for the story. (2)How to help the students learn to use different reading skills 四.Teaching practice教學(xué)實(shí)踐 1. The idea of my teaching design教學(xué)設(shè)計思路 本節(jié)所講內(nèi)容是本單元的Reading and writing部分。在設(shè)計本節(jié)課時,(1)通過問題巧妙引入,激發(fā)興趣導(dǎo)入新課;(2)自主學(xué)習(xí),快速獲取關(guān)鍵信息;(3)再讀文章,獲取故事細(xì)節(jié);(4)小組活動,創(chuàng)造性續(xù)寫故事不同結(jié)尾(小組展示、點(diǎn)評、評選最佳作品);(5)利用關(guān)鍵詞復(fù)述文章,提高口語和寫作能力;(6)當(dāng)堂檢測,鞏固所學(xué)(7)學(xué)生小結(jié),教師點(diǎn)題升華;(8)課堂延伸,布置作業(yè)和學(xué)習(xí)任務(wù)。本節(jié)課教學(xué)設(shè)計思想充分體現(xiàn)新課改精神,讓教師成為課堂的設(shè)計者、促進(jìn)者、幫助者、參與者和合作者,學(xué)生則是課堂的主人,激發(fā)學(xué)生的潛能,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生創(chuàng)新意識與合作探究能力?!? 2.Teaching procedures教學(xué)過程 Step 1 Lead-in Questions: 1.What do you know about Valentine’s Day? 2. Do you know our Chinese Valentine’s Day? 【設(shè)計意圖】通過學(xué)生對“西方情人節(jié)”的熟悉和了解,進(jìn)一步詢問什么是“中國的情人節(jié)”,從而激起學(xué)生對新課的求知欲,從而順利導(dǎo)入本節(jié)課。 Step 2 Fast reading T: Read the story fast to find out the following main points: 1. Characters: Li Fang and Hu Jin(lovers), the manager of the coffee shop 2. Time: Valentine’s Day 3. Place: the coffee shop and the tea shop 4. Event: Hu Jin promised Li Fang to meet him at the coffee shop but she didn’t turn up. In fact,she waited for him at the tea shop. They misunderstood each other. 5. Ending: ? 【設(shè)計意圖】旨在訓(xùn)練學(xué)生的閱讀技巧之一----速讀(fast reading)的能力,通過自主學(xué)習(xí),學(xué)生快速獲取故事的關(guān)鍵信息,進(jìn)行整理、提煉和歸納,把握故事的主要內(nèi)容和脈絡(luò)。 Step 3 Careful reading lRead the passage again and answer the following questions: 1. Why was the TV story what Li Fang needed? 2. What was Li Fang afraid Hu Jin was doing? 3. How did Li Fang know the manager wanted to shut the coffee shop? 4. What is the reason why Li Fang and Hu Jin did not meet on time? 5. Why do people want the weather to be fine on Qiqiaojie? 6.Why was Li Fang so worried at the end of the passage? Suggested answers: 1. The TV story was a sad story about lost love-- the same situation as Li Fang. 2. He was afraid that she was with her friends laughing at him. 3. The manager wiped the tables and then sat down and turned on the TV. 4. They did not meet on time because Li Fang waited in the coffee shop and Hu Jin waited in the tea shop. 5. People want the weather to be fine so they can meet the one they love. 6. He was worried because he had thrown away the gifts for Hu Jin--the chocolates and roses so he had nothing to give her and he thought she would not forgive him. 【設(shè)計意圖】旨在訓(xùn)練學(xué)生細(xì)讀的能力,這是高中生要求掌握的閱讀技能之一,有助于培養(yǎng)學(xué)生獲取故事的細(xì)節(jié)(details)的能力。 Step 4 Discussing and writing T: What do you think is going to happen to Li Fang and Hu Jin? Write your own ending to the story in groups. 1. Discuss the ending in groups and write it down. 2. Display it in class. 3. Select the best different endings. The endings from the students: a. They forgave each other and became lovers again b. Hu Jin was very angry with Li Fang and didn’t forgive him c. Li Fang admitted his mistake and bought a bunch of red roses and proposed to Hu Jin. Hu Jin was moved and accepted his offer of marriage. Two days later they got married. 【設(shè)計意圖】旨在通過分組討論,讓學(xué)生創(chuàng)造性地完成故事結(jié)尾的續(xù)寫。最終評選出“最感人的故事(the most moving story)”、 “ 寫得最好的故事(the best well-written story)” 、“最出其不意的結(jié)尾(the most surprising ending)” 、 “最幽默的故事(the most humorous story)”等分類,選出最佳的作品。有助于激發(fā)學(xué)生的寫作熱情和英語寫作能力。 Step 5 Retelling The students are asked to retell the story of the weaving girl and the herd boy based on the pictures and some key words and phrases. Key words and phrases: Meet each other on earth …/Get married…/be angry… /Cross the river to meet on the magpie bridge… 【設(shè)計意圖】目的是通過復(fù)述,一則有助于提高學(xué)生口語表達(dá)能力,二則在某種程度上訓(xùn)練學(xué)生的寫作能力,真是一舉兩得! Step 6 Consolidation Listen to the passage to understand it further ,after which students are required to finish True or False,paying attention to the pronunciation and intonation of the new vocabulary. True or false 1. The girl Li Fang loved and waited for didn’t turn up. But he didn’t lose heart. ( F ) The girl Li Fang loved and waited for didn’t turn up. So he lost heart, because he would drown his sadness in coffee. 2. Because her most lovely daughter got married to a human secretly, the Goddess got very angry. ( T ) 3. Zhin was made to return to Heaven without her husband. They were allowed to meet once a year on the seventh day of the tenth lunar month. ( F ) Zhin was made to return to Heaven without her husband. (T) 【設(shè)計意圖】本環(huán)節(jié)通過聽,然后讓學(xué)生完成正誤判斷,目的是檢測學(xué)生是否掌握本節(jié)課的內(nèi)容。 Step 7 Summing up Get one group to sum up today’s lesson and then the teacher can add something if necessary. T: This is a sad love story. Although it is sad, it makes us realize true love is more important than anything else like gifts(真愛比諸如禮物這樣的東西更重要). 【設(shè)計意圖】學(xué)生小結(jié),教師點(diǎn)題升華。 Step 8 Homework 1. Surf the Internet or go to the library to get more information about festivals at home and abroad. 2.Reread the passage and find out the difficulties in the passage and try to sovle them if possible. 【設(shè)計意圖】讓學(xué)生課后上網(wǎng)查詢或參閱書籍收集更多關(guān)于國內(nèi)外的“節(jié)日”的相關(guān)資料,旨在進(jìn)一步擴(kuò)大學(xué)生的文化視野,增強(qiáng)學(xué)生對其他國家文化的了解;再讀課文,找出課文的難點(diǎn),有助于培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的獨(dú)立思考和解決問題的能力。 五.Blackboard design 板書設(shè)計: Unit 1 Reading and writing: A Sad Love Story 1.
