It was known as one of the most terrible disasters in China in the 21th century. At 2:28pm ,the whole city began to shake and it seemed as if the world was at an end . In a few seconds , the city of Wenchuan lay in ruins . The supply of water and electricity was cut off . Thousands of people were injured or killed and a lot of people were trapped under the ruins .Tens of thousands of children were left without parents . The number of people who were killed reached more than 60,000 . But all hope was not lost . After the earthquake , rescue work was organized at once. A great number of people were dug out . Shelters were put up / built for survivors whose home had been destroyed .
