Seriously, dont be fooled by the grumpy-looking lady on the jar! The deeply caramelized chilies, garlic, onions, fermented soybeans and peanuts give this chili paste unbelievable layers of flavor and texture, while Sichuan peppercorns add a mouth-tingling zip. This chilli sauce certainly adds a lot of flavor to dishes. It goes literally with everything, ramen, dumplings, noodles, rice dishes, and tons of other stuff. 1. I loves my Angry Woman Sauce! I have no idea if this is authentic but it just tastes "Chinese" to me. Cant get enough and confess to eating right out of the bottle or finding something, anything, to use as a "delivery mechanism". Yum! 2. I have at least 20 different hot sauces, this is by far the best one. Its been described as sophisticated- Id agree. There chili oil, bean and chili flakes and peanuts, which work together perfectly. The spice level is also great- not the lasting habanero style burn, but more of a warm smooth heat. 3. This stuff is dangerously addictive. Youve been warned. I wanted something similar to what I got at the Szechuan restaurant. Well I then came across this and was pleased with the reviews then purchased two jars. SO GLAD I DID. It does have some tiny peanut pieces that are crispy toasty, yum. The heat is very notable and smooth. It is quite salty, also. Great condiment! 21. Which of the following can be the best title of this passage? A. A Strange Stuff. B. A Grumpy-looking Lady. C. A Popular Angry Lady Sauce. D. A Dangerous Thing. 22. What can be inferred from the passage? A. People are enthusiastic about the sauce. B. Lao Gan Ma is the name of a Chinese pany hot sauce. C. The sauce is mainly made up of chilies, garlic, onions, fermented soybeans and peanuts. D. The sauce can add a lot of flavor to dishes. 23. This text is likely to be selected from a book of ____. A. Medicine. B. Education. C. Food. D. History. B The film Network tells the sad tale of Howard Beale, a network news anchor who is about to lose his job over poor viewer ratings. He expresses his annoyance on air, castigating the network and cursing that life is “bullshit”. The plug is about to be pulled but suddenly his ratings rocket as the public gets in behind him. Ably played by Peter Finch, Howard bees an instant celebrity and gets his own show. He then utters a line which has helped place Network amongst the top 100 American films ever produced. He encourages people to lean out of their windows and shout at the top of their lungs: “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!” Something similar to that famous phrase is being shouted out of the windows of higher education institutions across Ireland. Normally calm, considered and restrained, the scientists, engineers and mathematicians are as mad as hell and are determined to make themselves heard. The windows were thrown open last Wednesday when more than 800 researchers here and abroad signed a letter and published it in a newspaper, effectively saying they weren’t going to take it any more. It was an open letter to the Government of Ireland from the 800, who declared themselves “Irish scientists for basic research”, hoping for financial support. The letter es just as the Government rushes everyone along towards a March 23rd, xx deadline for written submissions on the creation of a new strategy for science, technology and innovation. This in turn will be delivered by June, says the Minister of State for Skills and Research Damien English. The letter’s authors add, however, that it was surprising the letter hit when it did. Work on the letter began before they knew this consultation process had opened, but now the letter and its contents can contribute to the forthing strategy. 24. What do the underlined words in Paragraph 1 mean? A. walk after B. support C. interrupt D. hide behind 25. At what part of a newspaper can you probably find this passage? A. Film and entertainment B. Feature C. Education D. Social affairs 26. Which of the statements below is NOT TRUE? A. Howard will lose his job because viewers don’t like him at first. B. The researchers threw the windows open to remind people to focus on basic research. C. The letter from the researchers was signed and published last Wednesday. D. The government encouraged the public to submit their suggestions of a new strategy. 27. What would be the best title of this passage? A. The scientists are mad as hell, so show them money. B. Howard bees a celebrity and gets his own show. C. Unexpected end of the tale of a network news anchor. D. A famous line uttered by Howard Beale. D No joke: Researchers say we are moving away from personal, real-world pranks and into a world of media-driven jokes and Internet boredom. Does this spell the end of April Fools Day as we know it? Though pranksters(惡作劇達人)and joke-lovers in many countries now gleefully prepare to trick friends and loved ones on April Fools Day, no one knows exactly when or why, or even where, this tradition began. The importance of this day of prank-pulling freedom is no laughing matter. Its integral (完整的) to American culture, a day of funny is important to society, and also helps humans bond. Researchers say our reaction on edy is changing, though. And that may mean fewer pranks in the future. "The usual pranks that we would see 50 years ago are much less mon," Gary Alan Fine, a sociologist at Northwestern University in Illinois, told Live Science. "I think we are seeing the decline of interpersonal pranks." "At one time, pranking played a bigger role in American society. Some of the pranking was also very harmful," Joseph Boskin, a professor retired from history at Boston University, told Live Science. This type of harmful prank-playing was usually directed toward marginalized (社會邊緣)sections of society. "Pranks have played a very big role in this situation, so Im glad that the prankster part of it has declined, but the making fun of life in general goes on," Boskin said. The big problem is knowing where to draw the line between playful pranks and meanness close to bullying, Fine said. "Practical jokes of a certain sort shade into bullying, they shade into meanness and we are very concerned as a society about meanness," Fine said. "Finding out what that point is, is difficult for a society." And traditional pranking may be left out in the cold, Fine said. 32. Who will be made fun of on April Fool’s Day? A. Strangers. B. Friends and loved ones. C. Old men. D. Neighbors. 33. What does the underlined part in paragraph 2 means? A. Serious affairs. B. Boring things. C. Funny matters. D. Foolish matters. 34. According to the passage, which of the following is Not true? A. April Fool’s Day is part of American culture. B. No one knows exactly where the tradition of April Fool’s Day began. C. Pranksters and joke-lovers usually dupe friends on April Fool’s Day. D. There’ll be more pranks in the future. 35. What’s Boskin’s attitude toward the decline of pranks? A. Doubtful. B. Objective. C. Positive. D. Indifferent. 第二節(jié) (共5小題;每小題2分,滿分10分) 根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容,從短文后的選項中選出能填入空白處的最佳選項。選項中有兩項為多余選項。 Tomorrow is another day when we are likely to improve ourselves. So ask yourself 3 questions to be better. 1. What would make you proud of yourself? When you follow your heart , people won’t always agree with you. 36 When you show unwavering kindness to others, some people will question your motives. Don’t let any of these people stop you from doing these things. These people don’t matter. 37 You will ask yourself one question: “Am I proud of how I lived?” Make the answer: “Yes!” 2. 38 Even when it seems like a hopeless effort, do the right thing. Always live firmly by the forces of love and truth. 39 It’s these small acts of goodness stacked together that eventually change the world. You may never see the full result of your positive actions, but they will be accounted for and realized in time. If you do nothing, there will be no result – no positive change ever. 3. What are you trying to acplish and why? Know the answer to this simple question and remind yourself of it every single day. You must identify, without any doubt, the specific reason you do the work you do. Success can only occur when there is a target and a reason to hit it. When you have a reason to do something, you have a legitimate purpose behind your efforts. 40 Give yourself a good reason and you will find a way to succeed. A. How can you make a positive difference? B. When you find something that makes you happy, not everyone will be happy for you. C. Keep injecting your goodness into the world, one small act at a time. D. How can you improve yourself? E. Always help those in need to get them out from trouble. F. When you connect this reason to a desired result, you’re able to get the discipline and persistence necessary to get the job done. G. In the end, what does matter is how you feel about yourself and the life you have led. The Board Meeting finally came to an end.
