To learn some basic vocabulary to talk about clothes and materials Teaching contents 1. words: fashion, lazy, tie, cotton, silk, leather, wool 2. phrases: what to wear, spend ten more minutes in bed, so lazy Teaching procedure: Step1. Listen to the tape and talk about hobo: 1>. Does Hobo wear clothes? 3>.What did Hobo do then? 2>. Why? 4>. How is Hobo? Step2. Revise relevant vocabulary learned so far T-shirt, shirt, blouse, trousers, skirt, shoes, cap, hat, scarf, jacket, Step3. Introduce the topics with the help of a well-known fashion magazine, pictures and fashion-designer labels. Put pictures of different fashion items on the board. Step4 Write the topic ‘fashion’ in large letters on the blackboard .then ask the students: What’s your favourite fashion? My favourite is…… Step5 . Do a quick count of class opinion. Ask the students: Are you interested in fashion? Step6. Introduce the task: make it as exciting as possible using any interest that has been aroused by the fashion magazine, pictures and so on. Step7. Ask the students do Part and Part B. Ask then to guess the meaning of the words on their own. Check for understanding. Step8. Games Play a memory game. Divide the class onto pairs. S1 covers the words for materials. S2 points to a picture between 1 and 4. S1 says the word. S2 says ‘. Yes, you are correct.’ or. No,try on again. Step9. Place difficult clothing items and materials on your desk. Ask the students to look at them for one minute .Then they write down many items as they can remember. Step10. Extension activity Ask the students to collect some fashion magazines before class. Pass the magazines around and each student cuts out a few pictures of models in different clothes. The students can then cut out their heads from their own photos and paste their heads onto the models’ face. Tell them to use these pictures to make up their own conversations.
