That may not be a good idea. No, I don’t think so. I’m not sure if you are right. Agreement Disagreement Teaching procedure: Step 1 Presentation 1. Present the lesson by playing a song and then talk with the students about the songs. T: (Ask the students) What do the girl think we should if we are happy? S: Clap our hands; Stomp our feet; Shout hooray; Let our face surely show it. T: (Ask the students) What do you think of her ideas? Do you agree with her or disagree with her? Please talk in pairs. S: Talk in pairs about the girls’ opinions. T: Ask several pairs to talk in class and ask students to pay attention to their ways of expressing agreement and disagreement. 2. Present the ways of expressing agreement and disagreement. T: There are different phrases expressing agreement and disagreement. Millie wants to learn more about it so that she can discuss what is a perfect film with her friends. Help her plete the table in part A on page 94. S: Do the exercises by themselves. T: Check the answers together. Step 2 Practice 1. T: Sandy and Millie are discussing a film they watched yesterday. They sometimes agree with each other and sometimes disagree with each other. Please help them plete their conversation in part B on page 94. 2. Check the answers together. 3. T: Let’s read the dialogue in pairs. Please take turns to be Sandy and Kitty. 4. Ask several pairs to act the dialogue out. 5. T: (Ask the students) Are these sentences useful in our daily life? Let’s go to some scenes to see it. (There are four scenes for the students to choose.) Scene1: At the clothes shop Millie: Hello! Kitty! I don’t know what clothes to buy. Can you help me? Kitty: I think the red skirt is a good choice. Millie: _______________________. Red reminds me of fire. It makes me feel hot, especially in summer. Kitty: _______________. What about the white one? Scene2: At school Millie: Who do you think can be our new chairperson? Kitty: I think David is suitable. Millie: __________________. David has many good personal qualities. Sandy: _______________. A chairperson should be good at all subjects, but David is quite weak in physics. Scene3: At home Millie: Dad, I have got a problem. I am very worried. Dad: What’s wrong? If you put all your effort into study, you can learn it quite well. Scene4: In the classroom Sandy and Millie are talking about TV series and films. Sandy prefers TV series while Millie prefers films. Suppose you and your partner are Sandy and Millie. Please make a dialogue using the sentence patterns expressing agreement and disagreement.
